Week 12 of the 52 Week Project
Carrying on with the Contact Sheets for the 52 Week Project - trying to show the shots behind the final image.
Not was I had hoped to do today, it was a full moon out and was looking forward to some “Moonlighting” with Rob Orchard & Chris Harrison
Unfortunately, it being a school night and bloody cold, I figured we could wait until the summer (I hear they have full moons then as well)
So I ended up playing with different gels on my flashes, trying to get a nice balance.
Week 4 - The cock up…
So another week, same old room. I’d planned on getting out this week had a whole separate shoot in mind. Then life interrupts and dinner needs cooking and blah blah blah… So this was taken in between all the prep and cooking of a Sunday roast.
Strobist info:
Canon 430 EXII - 1/16th - Softbox - Camera Left and high
Nikon SB-900 - 64th - Umbrella - Camera left and low.
I’d had these bloody “glasses” lying around since going to see “Up” in the cinema some time ago and have been meaning to do something with them.
Well, I finally got around to it.
Outtake & Contact Sheet will be up later
(Now, just to wash all that Bryl-cream out of the hair)

Week 2 of the project started with a photoshoot for the men and women of the Preston Circus Fire Hall.
(The set is here )
The local council has decided that the fire hall is too costly to run and will be closing it down sometime in 2010.
I’ve decided to give back to them by offering a portrait session for the lot of them, which if the first session is any indication will be a fantastic little project in its own right.
Strobist info:
- one Canon 430 exII in a softbox camera left at 1/8th
- One Nikon SB900 at 1/4 power with a full cut CTO lighting the wooden doors used as a backdrop.
Lighting Diagram here
Both triggered by poverty wizards. (I can hardly wait for Nikon to update it’s sb600 so I can ditch the triggers)
The contact sheet for Week 2. a quick and simple Off Camera Flash setup consisting of a softbox camera right and a second strobe warming up the background.
Looking back at it, if I was to do anything differently I would have set up a reflector opposite the softbox to bring out some of the shadow details.
