Cassette Lord: A Mixer in an Alley

Still coming up with these, although they’re staring to hide in alleyways now.

Week 10 of the 52 Week Project.

How do you beat the Sunday Blues?

The Outtake and Contact Sheet from Week 3 of my 52 Week Project

More Details Here

I’d had these bloody “glasses” lying around since going to see “Up” in the cinema some time ago and have been meaning to do something with them. Well, I finally got around to it.
Outtake & Contact Sheet will be up later
(Now, just to wash all that Bryl-cream out of the hair)

As we get ready for the snow to turn into slush I thought I’d go back through some old pictures I hadn’t given much attention to.Remembering summer fun on a walk in the downs.

The contact sheet for Week 2. a quick and simple Off Camera Flash setup consisting of a softbox camera right and a second strobe warming up the background. Looking back at it, if I was to do anything differently I would have set up a reflector opposite the softbox to bring out some of the shadow details.

Last of the Pavilion snow set. A unique building seen in the snow, something we certainly don’t get all that often down here.

A project I’ve started as part of a New Years resolution to “Pay it Forward”.

I wanted to take some nice, proper portraits of “Local Heroes”. People who serve the community and probably don’t get as much recognition as they should.

Firefighters back home are a big part of the community, and while they may not shout it from the rooftops like some of our American neighbours, I like to think that the public do the shouting for them.

So these are the shots from the Blue Watch of Preston Park Firehall. What started out as a bunch of guys not being to sure about having their picture (or mug shot) taken, ended up being an afternoon of laughs and stories.

Most of them had never had their picture taken outside of the odd party or “mug shot” for the department. By the end of it all, they’d asked me to come back to take portraits of the other three watches, including a nice one of a fellow who’s retiring this year.

I’ve got to stress, this was purely for the love of it, and the desire to give back something to the people in the community who give to us on a daily basis.

A practice I really want to get back into; Contact Sheets.

Since digital has come around the contact sheet seems to have gone by the wayside. I don’t know why, they certainly help with a tight edit. I’m going to try and post one of these a week, just to show the process of the shoot.
